Boney M

Boney M. is a disco group created by German record producer Frank Farian. Originally based in West Germany, the four original members of the group's official line-up were Jamaicans Liz Mitchell and Marcia Barrett, Montserratian Maizie Williams, and Aruban Bobby Farrell. The group was formed in 1975 and achieved popularity during the disco era of the late 1970s.

Carole King is an American singer, songwriter, and pianist. As a singer, her album Tapestry topped the U.S. album chart and remained on the charts for more than six years. King's was most successful as a performer in the first half of the 1970s, although she was a successful songwriter long before and long after that. She wrote her first number '1' at 17 in 1959 and in 1997 she wrote "The Reason" for Celine Dion. In 2000 Joel Whitburn, a Billboard Magazine pop music researcher, named her the most successful female songwriter of 1955-99 because she wrote or co-wrote 118 pop hits on the Billboard Hot 100.

ABBA

ABBA was a Swedish pop music group formed in Stockholm in 1972, consisting of Anni-Frid "Frida" Lyngstad, Björn Ulvaeus, Benny Andersson and Agnetha Fältskog. Fältskog and Ulvaeus were a married couple, as were Lyngstad and Andersson during their career, although both couples later divorced. They became one of the most commercially successful acts in the history of popular music, and they topped the charts worldwide from 1972 to 1982. An American country and pop music singer-songwriter popular in the 1950s and 1960s who also gained a wide international following for his pioneering smooth Nashville sound. Known as Gentleman Jim, his songs continued to chart for years following his death at age 40 in a private airplane crash.

Simon & Garfunkel

Simon & Garfunkel an American singer-songwriter duo consisting of Paul Simon and Art Garfunkel. They formed the group Tom & Jerry in 1957, and had their first taste of success with the minor hit "Hey, Schoolgirl". As Simon & Garfunkel, the duo rose to fame in the mid 60's with hits like "The Sounds of Silence", were "I Am a Rock", "Homeward Bound", "A Hazy Shade of Winter", "Mrs. Robinson", "Bridge over Troubled Water" They have received several Grammys and are inductees in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Freddie Mercury

Freddie Mercury, born Farrokh Bulsara (Gujarati) was a British musician, best known as the lead vocalist of the rock band Queen. As a performer, he was known for his powerful vocals and flamboyant performances. As a songwriter, Mercury composed many hits, including "Bohemian Rhapsody", "Killer Queen", "Somebody to Love", "Don't Stop Me Now", "Crazy Little Thing Called Love", "We Are the Champions", and "Barcelona". In addition to his work with Queen, he also led a solo career and was occasionally a producer and guest musician (piano or vocals) for other artists. Mercury, who was a Parsi born in Zanzibar and who grew up there and in India until his mid-teens, has been referred to as "Britain's first Asian rock star". He died of bronchopneumonia brought on by AIDS on 24 November 1991, only one day after publicly acknowledging he had the disease. In 2006, Time Asia named him as one of the most influential Asian heroes of the past 60 years,and he continues to be voted as one of the greatest singers in the history of popular music.

John Denver was an American singer-songwriter, actor, activist, and poet. Osibisa

Osibisa is a British Afro-pop band, founded in London in 1969 by four expatriate African and three Caribbean musicians. Osibisa were one of the first African bands to become widely popular, leading to claims of founding World Music. Osibisa have had some very iconic album covers. The first two albums featured artwork (and logo) by famed progressive-rock artist Roger Dean (before he became famous for his artwork), depicting flying elephants which became the symbol for the band. Paul Anka

Paul Anka the singer, song-writer and actor was born in Canada in 1941. He became a teen idol in 1957 with his single "Diana" which subsequently went on to sell over eight million copies. His writing credits include the English lyrics for the song "My Way" and "She's a Lady" for Tom Jones.
